Kate Middleton + Lupo

Going on today's trend of adorableness (the otter.... not Miley Cyrus or Chentelle Houghton, let's not get confused) here is are two adorable photos of the Duchess of Cambridge (still cannot get used to calling her that!) walking her and William's dog Lupo. So gosh darn cute and love what she's wearing- big fan, as ever.

That b*tch.... and her dog

Joking, joking I love the Stew- just can’t resist a crass pun.

I adore this picture. Mostly because this plays to my ridiculous side so perfectly. Since becoming in essence a international bag lady- albeit toting around Louboutains rather than pot noodles- I have given up many of my more ridiculous qualities. I legitimately can’t remember the last time I purchased a piece of clothing (…. Okay right before Christmas but that’s still BIG progress) and perhaps most importantly I live in a city whose ONLY clothing stores of any quality are a Mango and a T. M Lewin. Obviously I am not a man so my option (if you can really consider one choice an option- or Mango even a potential option) is Mango.

The one thing I refuse to give up though is my love for pampering pooches. I will readily admit that the one, and perhaps the only, thing I really miss about Toronto- is my dog. It is my greatest wish to give her a Nigerian brother one day soon but that probably won’t feasibly be able to happen for awhile. SO in the mean time I intend to perv over this photo of Martha Stewart pampering her pooch until the cows come home…../…… until Lagos acquires a decent Cava- Chon breeder (….. so it could be awhile).

Puppy love

So I have bee waiting to blog about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber for some time. A delay which has been primarily caused by the fact that I am a 24 year old who really doesn't place much importance on either of them. What got my attention a few days ago was this photo:

A seemingly innocuous photo at first glance but really rather insidious at the core. Here the two stars are pictured cuddeling at an ice hockey match in Winnipeg, in a private suite at the MTS Centre..... now the idea of any 19 and 17 year old (Selena being the former and Justin the latter) hiring out a private suite... even if it is to a Winnipeg Jets game (and lets be honest who really wants to see that) leaves a pretty foul taste in my mouth. Secondly, I take issue with the fact that they are BOTH wearing Jets jerseys.... surely Bieber would be a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, hailing- as he does- from London and Stratford Ontario. Thirdly, no straight man EVER shows this much pda at a hockey game. I realize that Justin is a singer AND dancer however like any good Canadian boy I would hope that he would be aware that the nicest thing you to for your girlfriend at a hockey game is (a) take her there (b) ignore her for the night in favor of talking to your friends, and (c) potentially spill beer on her and then swear loudly over the fact that you are now in possession of less beer. The bottom line being however that as strongly as I felt about the issue I didn't really care about either of these 'celebrities' (I use quotes to connote the fact that I do realize these are subjectively bona fide celebrities..... to anyone under the age of 21 and two a select few above it, and probably objectively as well- I do realize that these are very popular individuals... I just don't really care) enough to blog about it. Until I saw this picture....

Yes, that's right- Selena and Justin are now the proud owners of a dog named Baylor who they are believes to have adopted from an animal rescue centre in Winnipeg last Friday. I think it is a phenomenal thing that they visited the shelter and raised awareness on the light of many canines in Canada; however, I think it is unfortunate that they chose to show their support by adopting a pet )particularly as they adopted it together). Owning a dog is not a decision to be taken lightly as the attendant responsibilities are many. It is true that Selena and Justin are lucky to travel with an entourage of people who can assume responsibility for the dog when they are performing, working out, getting their hair and makeup done, practicing.... playing basketball with Usher (whatever plethora of things these young celebrities do) however dogs need one primary owner one alpha dog and I pity this dog because although he will live in luxury it is unlikely that he will be brought up in a stable home with one designated alpha dog to lead him. In fact his home has already been far from stable with Selena immediately taking him with her from Winnipeg to London. It is incredibly selfish to think that dogs want to spend their time flying from city to city. They are not there simply to please their owners and have their own deserved, needs and wants. Most importantly however a puppy is not just for tour- it's for life.

Tears and Gossip Girl

So Gossip Girl (specifically Chuck's new dog- Monkey) made me weep today (Season 5, Episode 3 for those who are interested), I'm not going to lie. The last scene where Monkey curls up with Chuck in bed.... made me absolutely long for my best friend, my dog Wednesday. I can't wait until she can join me in London. Until then I will abate my longing with the burgeoning relationship between Chuck and Monkey.

Doggy Street Style

Alright so for those of you who know me you will know that I am OBSESSED with my dog and by extension her wardrobe (a few pieces of which are featured in the included shots). Resultantly I have developed a fascination with doggy street style. As far be it from me to inflict a behind the times wardrobe on my favorite pooch! I therefore am warning those who are not fans of dog clothing to skip this post immediately an avert your eyes as you will likely find the upcoming images distressing if not revolting. For those of you (like me) who believe that dog fashion is just one of many ways to maintain a healthy and happy puppy (obviously a lower priority than copious exercise, a well balanced diet and oodles of love and attention... but a priority nonetheless) I hope that you will enjoy these images as much as I do and check out the blog where they came from. It's called 'Butters the Fashion Dog' and can be found here. I can't overstate enough though that although dogs can be fashionable they are NOT a fashion accessory and that should never be their purpose. Dogs should be athletes, companions and good citizens first and foremost- only after they have become a all rounded dog, a renaissance pup as it were, should an owner train them to become a fashionista. Otherwise it is not fair on the dog.

I am hoping to make doggy street style a larger component of this blog in the fall (it's my personal belief that just like the old adage no white after labor day, a well heeled dog should NEVER be clothed until well after labor day- the exception being a bath robe.... for the sake of modesty of course).

Mulberry and Dogs: Two of my favorite things

I'm so excited by these images I don't even know what could make me happier. Perhaps if Mulberry could mate with a dog.....

I won't lie the purple outfit with the scarf which matches the angora dog sweater is my favorite. Probably because Wednesday (my adorable puppy!) and I have the set. Get ready for pictures of us come fall parading around in it!
