I have written 3 new screenplays in 2008.
All screenplays based on true events, including two biopics.
I really liked exploring the destinies of these exceptional human beings and I believe I will write more screenplays of that genre in the future.
However, I’m planning more fictional stories for 2009 and I would love to script a good thriller (in the vein of Seven, or the silence of the lambs) I’m also very interested in writing horror/ supernatural thrillers (no gore) in the vein of « The ring ».
Funny I’m always mentioning this film, because I remember I really hated it the first time I saw it! Mainly because the film features this scene with the horse, I can’t stand any animal suffering or killing even when it’s fake! I have erased many movies for that reason.
I have devoted 2008 to my own spec screenplays, but I’m planning to devote 2009 to writing assignments, getting paid for what i do, and promoting my existing material.

Preparing for very much deserved holidays
I have just written down the famous words "fade out" on a new screenplay and i can't wait to start enjoying my dear Halloween vacations. Halloween is one of my favorite moment of the year, Autumn being my favorite season, there is something both quiet and magic about it, maybe because I’m so fond of all these Halloween stories, these witches tales and these famous horror movies! also probably because i have many good recollections that happened in October.
I'm planning to relax until December, until i start writing a new screenplay, "earth friends" a beautiful Native American Indians tale, based upon the story of the talented writer Jodi Raven Hawk, who hired me to turn her tale into a screenplay.
As for now, my hand hurts badly and i have trouble typing, i have just finished the screenplay a few minutes ago and my mind is a little confused right now, so please excuse me if the sentences i have written down sound a little odd!
thanks for reading anyway, Jordan.

Famous screenwriter’s quotes: Very instructive
Here are a few interesting quotes from famous screenwriters. I’m sure a lot of you go through the same experiences and feelings in their screenwriter’s life…My favorites are number 3, 5 and number 7, which is exactly the way I do when writing a new screenplay.
1.WESLEY STRICK:(Cape Fear, Wolf, True Believers, Arachnophobia)
I have two tricks. One is that I write every day, regardless of
whether I want to or not because as I just said, in a way I never want to write.
It's not even an issue. I just write four pages a day when I'm working. I have a quota.
A sub-set of that system is that I am a firm believer that bad ideas lead to good ones.
When I am not inspired and I don't know the solution I will just type out the most banal
solution and know that at least it's on the page and it gets me to the next story beat.
2. JIM HART:( Hook, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein)
There is a real big gap between what a writer wants to do and what the studio wants them to do.
3. TOM SCHULMAN:(Dead Poets Society)
I had to be my own best salesman. I had to know
everything that was going on in Hollywood, who might
or might not be interested in my piece, and guide my agent in those directions, even if he disagreed.
4. AMY HOLDEN JONES:(Indecent Proposal, Mystic Pizza)
Roger Corman taught me a very valuable lesson.
He said you could make a movie about just about anything
as long as it had a hook to hang the advertising on.
5. JIM HART:( Hook, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein)
I learned a great lesson from Coppola on "Dracula" Francis gave me a
great insight as to when you are dealing with studio executives and the studios' needs.
You agree with everything they say then you go off and do whatever you want to.
6. LAWRENCE KONNER:(Jewel Of The Nile, Star Trek VI, Beverly Hillbillies) A character's dreams are most important because I think almost always what their dreams are will help you motivate the story. It's something they want.
7. WESLEY STRICK:(Cape Fear, Wolf, True Believers, Arachnophobia)
I find that when I am working I become like an antenna and suddenly, somewhat
like a paranoid-schizophrenic, everything relates to my screenplay: a mentioned recipe,
a joke somebody tells, a billboard that I see. It all becomes grist for what ever screenplay I'm working on.
8.JIM HART:( Hook, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein) I think too many
screenwriters try to be commercial as opposed to being accessible. Find that material which
speaks to you and has a certain truth. Forget about whether it's commercial. "Dracula"
took me 15 years. "Hook" took me 10 years.
9. ERIC ROTH:( Forrest Gump, Mr. Jones)I think part of being a good screenwriter is being as concise as possible.
10. LAWRENCE KONNER:(Jewel Of The Nile, Star Trek VI, Beverly Hillbillies)Robert Towne
has made the comment, and I agree with him, " An audience will forgive a lot at the beginning
but very little at the end." If the story is constructed properly, then the ending should be inevitable, but not predictable.
11.TOM SCHULMAN:(Dead Poets Society) For me the challenge is always to look inside myself and find what's really behind what I'm working on.

HAREM
Well before, writing "Rio", my screenplay on the famous stockholm syndrome, i remember i saw a fascinating movie called "Harem", in which Nastassja Kinsky is kidnaped by Ben Kingsley, playing an Arabian sheik. I suppose this "strange" story of the captive falling for her captor influenced me in choosing to develop a screenplay on this syndrome. I remember i had loved the movie at that time.
I highly recommend this movie to those who still haven't seen it.

Thank you Indy!
Well, as usual critics have all wrong!
Splendid! Definitely my favorite! Non-stop action! Sumptuous images, excellent acting, humor in (almost) every dialogue, a fascinating plot that takes spectators
on the road to absolute evasion! Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skulls perfectly fulfils its contract: to entertain a large audience.
Another success from Mr. Steven Spielberg: a man, who will inspire generations of young filmmakers during many, many years.
Kudos! This is what I call « cinema ».
MARILYN
A little thought for Marilyn Monroe, the legendary actress, who was born 82 years ago today.
She still inspire and fascinate million of people around the world.

SCREENPLAY SOFTWARE
I finally fell for this software:
CELTX...Perfect, easy to use, i recommend it to all writers since it's free! perfect for students, first time screenwriters.
I love it! i'm currently using it for a screenplay i have to format perfectly, a top producer is going to look at my work and i want to do things correctly and professionally.
Celtx and i really get on very well!

Heath Ledger
I will miss this fabulous actor, who touched me so much in the memorable movie « broke back mountain », I remember I watched this film around 6, or 7 times…I knew this talented young artist since he played Mel Gibson’s son in « the patriot« .
I could not wait to see his talent giving life to the new Joker in the dark knight. I'm very, very sad he's not with us anymore.

Rescue dawn
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of watching this FABULOUS movie by Werner Herzog: true story of U.S. fighter pilot Dieter Dengler, a German-American shot down and captured in Laos during the Vietnam War, with an outstanding, incredible, performance of Christian Bale playing Dengler.
A profound, beautiful story of survival, unlike any movie I have seen before…It’s so pleasant to watch something different from the usual Hollywood blockbusters!
I warmly recommend this movie to everyone! Memorable!
