WWBW: What Would Blair Wear?

In my first edition of WWBW (What Would Blair Wear) my very own ode to Blair Waldorf, my favorite Gossip Girl character, witty quipper and soon to be newly minted fictional princess.

This season has been (in my humble opinion) more of a departure from Blair's previous style than an evolution. Gone are the headbands, sparkles, bright colors, and color blocking (despite its prevalence this seasons) of her past. Instead she has adhered to a uniform of cardigans, muted tones, prints, high collars and scarves. Her time in Paris this season remains a notable exception. During her time in Paris the viewers had the opportunity to witness Blair in the most similar style to what we have been accustomed to, as while in Paris Blair indulged in brights, clashing floral prints and jewel tones.

Arguably Blair's wish that she be taken more seriously, as well as her European style sympathies have influenced this departure. It is certainly a fair more ladylike, cleaner, more European look then we have seen from her in the past. Her hair and makeup also reflected this cleaner look. Gone were the bouncy curls  of her Constance days, in their place were simple waves. Perhaps reflecting her status as both a student and a full time employee, a busy woman on the go. Her makeup was also kept minimal, enhancing her perfect porcelain skin.

Blair's newer style also serves to further distinguish her from Serena. This season Serena's wardrobe was awash with sequins, lace, embellishment, fur, suede, corals, pinks, jewel tones and gold. All topped off with lashes of makeup and hair. In comparison Blair's wardrobe seems almost barren of hue this season.

Below are some of my favorite Blair moments from this season.
